WELCOME!!!

WELCOME!!!
On May 14th, 2007 we joined Team in Training and became part of our first ever marathon adventure. A marathon dedicated to finding a cure for cancer. Signing up for a 26mile race was a very scary experience to say the least!!! To be honest, we can both find ourselves out of breath running up the basement stairs, LOL!!! When we found out about TNT we felt it was a great way to get in shape while supporting a well deserved cause. The following blogs are journal entries of what the process was really like for us. From first day training, till race day, we'll be keeping a log of our efforts, set-backs and triumphs. We'll also keep you posted on our fundraising achievements. Check back from time to time to see how we're doing. We'll need encouragement and support during this process, but not as much as those battling cancer!

WE DID IT!!! 09-16-07

Kelly and I were able to finish the 18 miles today. I'm not giving a lot of details, to be honest I'm too tired right now. We started at 7:30 AM (Dodge Circus Park) and finished in daylight (that's all that mattered). We actually had a very good pace going. We stayed together the whole time and only took a few short walk breaks. Started with a 100 layers of clothing (it was 43 degrees at 7:30 AM), and quickly needed to strip. When we got home I popped a few Motrin and took a 20min. ice bath. Not the most pleasant thing in the world, but my knees and ankles do feel better after. Off to a B-Day party and then the Lion's game. We'll sleep good tonight!!!

Another pat on the back to Kelly!!! Off 5 weeks with leg injuries and today pushed herself to finish a strong 18 miles. She said she completed it in the same amount of time she completed 16 miles the week before. You're Awesome Babe!!!

Your blog has been so much fun!! I'm going to miss the entertainment when you guys complete your goal! Congratulations to the both of you for a great 18 miler!!!! The marathon is in reach. Stay healthy and enjoy. I know what you mean Randy when you say... there's not many days to take off when it gets this close to the wire!

As race day gets closer, stay focused and remember... EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IS ALREADY WITHIN YOU! You have trained smart, rested when you needed to, and have visualized your victory finish. The rest is mental and you are both so mentally tough!
